Hey, I’m Chris.

I’m an ex-venture capitalist.

… by sharing what I couldn’t share when I was on the VC side of the table.

My Bio

I’ve spent the last decade in corporate strategy, business development and growth operations on both the investor and innovator sides of the table.

At age 30, I was hired to run a corporate venture capital fund for a $1.4 billion company.

The biggest wins from our 6 investments:

  • 2 portfolio companies were acquired at 9-figure valuations

  • 1 received significant growth equity funding from a private equity firm and is still in operation

  • 1 remains in operation at a 9-figure valuation

But in 2018, the Venture Capital industry had me feeling jaded and unfulfilled.

I found it very unfair to the startup community that VCs regularly chastised the very people we were supposed to be empowering… And as a VC, I was part of the problem.

So, I intentionally left the fund side to go work for and with the types of companies I would have invested in — and it has been a blessing.

Since 2018, I have:

  • Established multi-million dollar business development partnerships with emerging companies

  • Advised ambitious Founders whose companies are valued up to $975M

  • Made early stage, on-and-off balance sheet investments

Why I’m Doing This

  1. There is a game behind the curtain in the world of venture capital.

    • I disclose the game to you because good companies deserve to get funded.

  2. VCs don’t truly collaborate with startups.

    • We cast stones at the very people we’re supposed to be empowering which I find very unfair to the startup community.

    • Having been on both sides of the table, I can educate and advise you with empathy.

  3. There is a lot of misguided Startup / VC advice coming from unqualified sources.

    • You’re getting a lot of noise from online “experts” who have never been on a cap table.

    • There is so much more that goes into Startup / VC engagement than a great story and pitch deck.

So, I’m doing something about it.
